Philippians 1:29
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him.

Re: verse of the day
Jerry, the thing that I love about God's word is that it is ever faithful and never changing. His promises thousands of years ago are as valid today as they were when he made them. Thank you for posting.

Job 28-23,24
God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
For he looketh to the ends of the Earth, and seeth under the whole heaven.

CORINTHIANS 4
1. Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have
recieved mercy, we faint not:
2. But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty,
not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of
God decietfully; but by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every man's conscience in
the sight of God.
3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that
are lost.

Re: verse of the day
Please forgive my ignorance. The verses are beautiful and start my day off thinking the right way ... but .... some are tough for me to understand. I need someone to break them down so a Southwestern PA redneck ... who is clinging to his God and his guns, .... can truly understand. Any help out there?

Re: verse of the day
Corinthians to me means: We have been given eternal life and recieved mercy. For this we are charged with spreading his word openly and honestly. If we do not/if we keep the word to ourselves (hid) others that are not saved never will be. They will be lost.
That is of course is the way I see it. Others may see it different.

Re: verse of the day
Jerry
I really enjoy your scripture posts!! It's like water to dry grass. Sometimes I need, make that ALL THE TIME I need to see God's word in front of me. We take for granted the Bible. Almost everyone has one. Even heathen have at least one in the house.
When I was on a trip to Michigan this past summer I stopped in a flea market that used to be a church. In it I found a BIG family Bible. It has a 5 lb cover. The cover itself is close to an inch thick!!!! I bought it for $20 and reglued the binding together. The Bible was printed around 1900. It's so cool. It was sad to see the little church become a flea market, but it was also a profound statement of today's spiritual health in our nation.
