The Disciples Commissioned

Mark 16: 14 Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." 19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.

For the past thirteen years we have hosted a bike rally at our church. Well tomorrow we're doing it again. It's called "River Valley Thunder".

For the past few months we have been preparing for this. All proceeds go to buying equipment for the church. So, we're making brisket, cookies, and other edibles. We have the local sherrifs escorting us thru town to the state line, then picking us up when we get back into town.

There are many reasons that we do this every year. We enjoy riding together with over a hundred bikes. It gives us a chance to serve other bikers and get to know them. We have many opportunities to share Jesus Christ. We get to see what God created in six days. He is awesome!

Jesus Christ said to his disciples "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel..." Part of the world is the biker community. Often times they don't feel wanted or comfortable in church. They might think people are staring at them, and some are. I want to believe our church is 'biker friendly'. On any given Sunday you will see several Harley's and Honda's parked in front of our front door. A friend of mine rode his trike to our church from Maryland and parked in the 'Goldwing only' parking zone.

I'm pretty exhausted and the big day is tomorrow. So, I'm closing out early. Have a fantastic week and don't forget I'm still praying for you. If you need prayer, drop me a line.
