Yep. Get what fits your style and budget.  For me it depends on where and what type riding.  I love my little Tramp in the mountains.

On a long haul ... I don't think you can beat a Wing ... IMHO. The Harley is a great bike ... sound and power are awesome ... it does not feel like a 920# bike ... but the Wing is soooooo smooth. The Wing comes complete ... shield, bags, stereo, etc. .... on a VTX 1800 you may be able to find one with bags and a shield ... maybe.  2 cents

True Len. Problem is I'm a purist of sorts. I don't like bags, shield, fairing, trunk, crash bar, any of that stuff on my bike. I ride with some of it only because I need to in order to get done what I do. The Wing is truly a masterpiece of touring technology and fits a market out there. I just can't stomach it to look at or ride. They cover up the best parts of the bike with all that plastic. I'll stick with a bike that is open and somewhat bare by some standards.

It's probably just my age but when I ride somewhere I don't want to be whipped because I had an 80 mph wind slapping me around for a few hundred miles. I don't worry so much about the "purist" aspect as I do enjoyment ... because that is the reason I ride. I guess that is why they make so many styles and size of bikes, huh? I hope you find exactly what you are looking for E and that it services all your needs ... wait did I type that out loud ???  Shocked Shocked Shocked
