Wife and I went for a ride
Well, Juanita and I went out for a little ride yesterday. Nothing special, I had to make a return to one of the local Honda dealer about 20 miles away. I had to charge the battery on her bike before we went as she has not been on it for almost a year now. It was a pretty nice day and traffic was light. She kept falling behind and I was slowing down to let her catch up. I knew she was struggling a bit. I rode very easy and did not say one word once we got to the dealer. I made my exchange and we headed home. After we got home she came to me and said that she is done with riding. She was very uncomfortable and all the skills she had learned before are now gone from lack of use. So, with that being said, we now have a 2006 Shadow Aero 750 California model with 1098 miles on it for sale. It has a windshield, saddlebags, backrest, and a K&N air filter. We are asking $4,000.00 and are pretty firm on that, but, cash can always talk......some. We have one potential buyer already but we will see.

Juanita will not ride with anyone else, she has to be in control.

She really never was a riding partner but, I was hoping she would get into it more after the boys got older. I have 32,000 miles to her 1,098 and our bikes are only thirty days apart in time we have owned them. If we end up moving to a small town in Texas, she might consider getting another one but as of now she is done. I will still ride every chance I can.

Sorry to hear that Joey ... I know how you feel. My wife hates bikes ... won't drive one and won't ride with me. I let it stop me for a while ... but now I just live with it.

She knows enough about riding to realize its not for her, and that's a good thing. Or maybe you ride too slow and she's lagging behind so you won't hear her cussing at ya. jfwy.

maybe it's not just the bikes. maybe she hates being with you. does she encourage you to go out and ride without her?
sorry to here this joe. at first judy didn't care for the bike but i just let her go at her own pace and while she ain't up for biker gal of the year award, it's nice for her to go when she does. i think she just likes seeing me in chaps.

I think she just outgrew it. She rode when she was younger and she was the reason we got bikes in the first place. Now that she is a Mom, she has different priorities and motorcycling is no longer one of them. I fully support her decision and maybe, one day, she will get another one. We will see.....

Re: Wife and I went for a ride
I still can't believe it but we just sold Juanita's bike. The guy didn't even haggle. He stopped by this afternoon and looked it over. I started it up for him and then he took a picture to show his wife. He left and about two hours later he came back with his wife, he sat on it and then they just bought it with cash. I rode it to their house for them and he gave me a ride back home in his truck. I am stunned. I still have to get him the title from the bank after I pay it off but that is it. No more bike payment and, as an added bonus, we can pay off the car now too. This will be a good Christmas.

That's great Joe. I don't think it's a "closed book" yet. I think she will come back to it later in life. But maybe not. If not, there will be other 'like interests' that you can share. A couples' biggest problem in marriage is they grow apart gradually. They become married singles. Be sure and have/guard a date night once a week. Movies don't count. You gotta keep that oil in the lamp fresh or the fire will go out. It can be refilled, but takes alot of work.
I bet riding that bike to the new owners house was kinda hard.

The ride in the truck back home was harder. It's all for the better right now.

Re: Wife and I went for a ride
Can't complain when you get what you ask for. Thats probably more than you thought you'd get, considering it's a buyers market. The stealer only offered me $3500 for mine.
