Question for Jerry and J.D.
I have been thinking about getting the same trunk you guys have. I don't currently have a luggage rack but I am looking at a couple on e-bay. I just missed one for $60.00 (oh well, you snooze, you lose). Anyway, can you post some close-up pics of the mounting. I want to see how those flat plates attach to the bike. I have a neo-retro backrest so the angles of my bolts are different than the standard ones. If I can hide it well enough, I might make a rack to bolt on and save myself a hundred bucks.

No worries. I guess the main question is if I made a rack would it show with the trunk installed? I think I will probably buy the trunk and go from there.

Re: Question for Jerry and J.D.
when i figure it out i will definately post a pic. The luggage rack I have now is an aluminum one I made. It is strong enought to hold anything the trunk will hold, I just dont know if its big enough.

This is the mount that came with the trunk.
This is kinda what I am looking at doing.
Of course it would be cleaner looking, I would have to find some spacers.
Please feel free to give any input on weather or not you think it will support the trunk.

That looks great and I think I will do basically the same thing. Thank you! By the way, I like your outdoor chitter you have there. Are the leaves in lieu of t.p.

I really like the wheel too. As far as the blue thing goes.......I don't think so. I am actually thinking about going green with it. Maybe some shade of emerald, I'm not sure yet and I need to get my fairing before that happens.

The Mutazu GA bags in black (for now). If I could find a set of Harley bags someone did not want the cost of a small house for, I would get those but....

I got my harley bags for 250. One of the bolt holes is busted out, it should be a pretty easy fix when I get them painted.jaarch wrote:The Mutazu GA bags in black (for now). If I could find a set of Harley bags someone did not want the cost of a small house for, I would get those but....

That's the kind of deal I'm talking about. I guess it is just going to be the right place at the right time.

Re: Question for Jerry and J.D.
I like that Ray and I see you had the Neo retro backrest like I do. I do not have a luggage rack right now and I think I will not need one. I'm going to make the brackets to adapt the trunk to my bike. Worst case, I have to get a luggage rack and go from there.

Re: Question for Jerry and J.D.
Use the rack that comes with it and use spacers and a piece of plate under the trunk. I think mine will be okay with stock seat.jaarch wrote:I like that Ray and I see you had the Neo retro backrest like I do. I do not have a luggage rack right now and I think I will not need one. Re: Question for Jerry and J.D.
as you can see I welded mine up before the powder-coat job to make sure nothing moved. Of course every thing on mine is a little different.

That is a good idea. That might be a possibility if mine works out.

Re: Question for Jerry and J.D.
OK I got my trunk today. Talk about lightning fast shipping! I ordered it on Saturday! Well I took a look at mounting options and I have decided to go with some angle iron mounted in the channels of the mounting plate with the downward facing edge on the outside. I then got some 3" wide 1/8" thick steel and I'm making two plates that will attach to my backrest brackets. I'll post up some pictures after I get some of it made. I will not need to use any spacers and it should be very solid.
