Love the look of this bike without the bags on it.

Take the buddy seat and back rest off and it will look a lot different. Has that bike got Ghost Brackets?Simpleman77 wrote:Love the look of this bike without the bags on it.

Re: Well, Crap...Coolant Leak
Good thought Trip. Will have to try it as a solo set up. Bet it'll look cool.
I'm running Leather Lyke bags so no brackets, just two studs on each side that the bags clip to. Really a neat set up. Very easy on and off.

Re: Well, Crap...Coolant Leak
I do Billy. My wife likes to go once or twice a month.
I looked and I can't take the back rest off without removing one of the hard bag studs on each side. I'd do it if I was going to ride like that for several months but I can't. I simply need the bags to do what I do for BACA and I don't want to mess with the attachment points.

Has a key that unlocks the bag's from the top?Simpleman77 wrote:Good thought Trip. Will have to try it as a solo set up. Bet it'll look cool.

Yes, the bags have a top lock. Open them up and there are two clips that slide over studs mounted on the bike. It's one of the slickest systems for quick disconnect bags I've ever seen.

I thought they look like ghost brackets. They have a single key lock that unlocks both studs from the top outside. Just turn the key and lift the bag off. Thats what I got on the X.

What year is the Vulcan? I had a 96 Classic and a 2000 Nomad. Great bikes but the 96 blew the plastic oil gear. All 96-99 vulcans had the dreaded plastic oil gear. Your bike looks newer and nicer. Congrats.

Eric, those are great looking bags. Be careful not to put too much weight in them. They are weak at the mounts. I had two crack on me when I was 'tripping' on a vtx 1800 Retro. Glad you got her back on the road.Simpleman77 wrote:I do Billy. My wife likes to go once or twice a month.

Dino, it's a '97 and, yes, it still has the POG in it. I actually had the side cover off replacing the clutch spring, looked in and saw the POG but didn't have a replacement for it. Will have to tear it apart again and replace it. Might do that when I visit Trips house next summer.
