Sunday Mornin' Hope : Just wrong
Growing up in the 60's and 70's we watched a lot of TV. One of my favorite shows was called "Happy Days". In particular was a guy called "The Fonz". He was cool and smart and 'never wrrrooooonggg'. So there was an episode where he had to tell someone he was wrrrrrronnnng, and it took him that long to say it. Finally he did and all was better. I never forgot that episode and really it must've made an impact on me. It's hard for all of us to admit when we're wrong (especially when it's so seldom). I think we're pretty good at forgiving others when they admit their error. But to actually confess you're wrong, that's tough.
Jas 5:16 -Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Yesterday we had a planned lunch for the 50+ in our church. We met at a big restaurant and had a private room reserved. While we were eating, a couple of guys came in our room and sat down to eat. The waitress to our room asked me if everything was good. I said "yes, but I don't know who those two guys are." She went and talked to them. I said they could stay but she didn't hear me and escorted them out. Ever since then I've been troubled about this. I should've asked them to stay. I was wrong. I was just wrong and can't fix it. I'm sure they enjoyed their meal and didn't think another thought about it, but I sure have. I have asked the Lord to forgive me and give me another chance to do it right.
James 5:16 tells us to confess our faults. I need to keep a recorder handy, they are so many. One of the cool things about that verse is that there is healing in it. There is healing available when you confess YOU were wrong. That's pretty cool. Then when you've repented to someone, they can pray with you and you be healed. This verse has a wonderful progression. First we confess, then we pray, then we may be healed. THEN the last part comes into full fruition. If you are a righteous man, you too must confess your faults in order for your prayers to avail much. If your praying with junk in your soul, don't expect much in return. But, if you're clean before the Lord, the effect of those prayers avails a lot!
Why does it take so long for some people to apologize? Maybe we're afraid of looking weak or vulnerable. Every morning we put on our "Superman" shirt when in reality it looks more like the scarecrow's attire. If you're bruised, go to a friend and talk to them. Let them help you and set you straight. It's ok to be wrong and confess it. That's how we grow strong. Jesus is a friend like that. He will listen and not broadcast what you tell Him.
1Pe 5:7 -Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you.
Jesus listens when everyone else falls asleep. He's not in any hurry, so learn to wait upon Him. He can and will renew your strength IF you will wait on Him. If you've been carrying junk like unforgiveness or jealousy, drop it off. That stuff will just slow you down. Cast ALL your cares upon Him. He's crazy about you! Have a great ride this week. Remember I'm praying for you.

Yep. It takes a real man, or woman to admit when they are wrong. The thing I have found is, the more you do something the easier it gets.
