question for the wingers
My dad is looking at an 88' with 125,000 miles on it. It has a voyeger kit, new tires, runs good drives good (this coming from a friend with an 85') a trailer to go with it also. The bike looks nice, everything painted to match. Dont know make of trailer. Doesnt look cheap. The gentleman is asking $10,200. From what i see on the puter, trike kit is $4100 new (basic), the bike is it $4000-4500? And he would let the trailer go for $1300.
I figure 3000 for the trike kit, 4250.00 bike and if the trailer was 1300, that would make it 8550.00 would be where i'd start.
Am i thinking correctly? Is the guy in the ballpark? What are some major things to look for with this bike?

Re: question for the wingers
A 23 year old bike with 125,000 miles for over $10,000? Wow, I must be outta touch with the market.
Has he priced out trikes? There are gobs of Wing trikes out there and I would bet there are a number of them newer, with less miles and for the same or less $$$$$$. Just my

Re: question for the wingers
I think he's way high Jeff. The 88 had some definate problems in the fuel hesitation. Also, they re- did the rims after that year. I like the 1500's. I've had 3 or 4 of them. I would look at the early 90's for a good deal. I really like the seats and the alts were stongest in the mid 90's. But they're easy to take out and replace anyway. I think the 94's had bad 4th gears (or somewhere around there. I don't put much value in a trailer. It's a nice accessory at best, but a boat anchor most of the year. Unless it's a Bushtec or a camper, it's not worth $1300. The Voyager kit is just a 20 min bolt on. That doesn't add alot of value to the bike. If the bike is set up as a trike and the front forks haven't been lowered 6 degrees, it's gonna fight him alot.

Jeff, I totally agree with Dino that he is too high.
In comparision to mine 15 years newer:
'88 w/125k Miles with trailer for $10,200.
'03 w/17K Miles with matching trailer for $13,000.
Eric showed some good comparision I thought also, especially with "Wing 1".

Re: question for the wingers
If I am correct, the trike kit bolts up to the frame up near the engine area. And still allows a certain amount of lean when negotiating a turn. Hitch? Think this is part of the trike.? Read through the web site kinda fast yesterday.

Re: question for the wingers
i saw 1 on steve sanders web site that did hook up to the trailor hitch on the bike , it was a easy on and off trainning wheels , it still used the bike drive wheel for power , i did;nt know what they called it , thought what you were talking about , mite be it , its a different setup ,smokum wrote:If I am correct, the trike kit bolts up to the frame up near the engine area. Re: question for the wingers
Bill, you're right. The voyager is just training wheels that hook up to the hitch and lower frame. It's on/off in about 20 minutes. They really don't add value to a bike. A trike with the Mustang rear end is a whole different horse .
