P.G.R. Ride
Friday was a Fantastic Sunny day and we had a P.G.R. ride to the airport scheduled. A bus load of 31 World WarII vets were coming in from Southern Missouri to fly out to Washington DC for an Honor Tour. We were there to send them off and stand a Flag Line.
The Airport Police met us at our staging area and escorted us to the Airport. We had about 25 bikes and they parked us at the front doors of the terminal. The Firefighters had their Bagpipe players there also. After about 20 minutes we saw the Bus with a Highway Patrol escort and they pulled up next to our bikes.
It was time for that Greatest Generation of Vets to head out on their trip so they started to exit the bus. The first 24 off the bus needed walkers, canes or wheelchairs but their eyes lit up when they saw all the Flags. They all wanted to shake hands and thank us for being there.
After they got past the Flag Line the last 7 vets got off the bus and were walking with no help. These guys walked thru the Flag Line and talked with us. One of them stopped to shake hands with me and give me a hug. He also told me to get a Haircut. That 87 year old Vet was my Dad. It was really Great to be there for his Honor Tour send off. --------

Re: P.G.R. Ride
Larry, I know you were as proud of your dad as he was you being there.
As a PGR member in the Huntsville, Al area, I have been there for several send offs and welcome homes for World War II vets that went to Washington and it is worth it all to see the joy in them when we are there with our flags.
God Bless America!

Cool Larry,
I am a member but seldom get to go on runs. They usually happen during the week, and I am (thankfully) working. Every now and then I will get to do a weekend run but not often.
