Update on Dave

I heard some news at work last night about Dave, He is not doing very well right now. A couple weeks ago, after his surgery, they said he was cancer free but went back for a checkup and said the cancer is back and growing very rapidly. Another co-worker told me that it is now spread all throughout his body. They said he is is good spirits, but has accepted that his time is growing to an end. I am trying to get a hold of Tina to see when we can go and visit him, I told Indie we must do this soon. I haven't pressed the issue and gone to visit yet because of my work schedule and the fact that he originally did not want any visitors, I didn't want to intrude. When Indie gets an answer from Tina, I will let you all know when we are going and give a report when we get back. I know he really appreciates all your thoughts and prayers, and I, too, thank you all for your concern.

Sounds like his fate is in the hands of our Lord. Prayers will continue.

We just got back from visiting with Dave and Tina. They are both in good spirits as of right now. He really does not look as bad as I was expecting, but does not look good either. He has made his peace with God and is just taking it day by day right now.

He is very weak and is on oxygen constantly, has trouble breathing, and cannot stand up for more than a few minutes at a time. He took a ride around his nieghborhood about a week ago and realizes it will probably be his last.

The doctors wanted to try some new treatment and Dave agreed to give it just one shot, I am sure mainly for Tina's benefit. I am not sure what it is, some pill he has to take, but they said it has a list of possible side effects that is a mile long. He is willing to try one time and if it makes him sicker than he already is, he will stop.

Dave always was a good ride planner, I went on several rides with him, and his final ride will be no different. He wants no one to have to make any difficult decisions, so he has planned the entire funeral ahead of time, they are talking like it might only be a matter of days, or weeks if this new treatment does not work.

It is very difficult for me to write this right now, but I thought you guys that have met him need to hear what is going on.

Dave was fun to ride with. He could wick that ol' Harley up a bit in the twisties. Never seen one ridden that fast.

I was informed this morning before leaving work that Dave passed away sometime last night. I don't know the details on the arrangments as of right now, but if anyone is interested, I will post the dates and times as soon as I find out.

I have lost a very good friend and brother and I thank all of you for your concern and prayers throughout this.

I am truly sorry to hear that. He is at peace and the pain is all gone. Prayers sent for you and his family and friends.

Jamie, I can only echo what Len said. As you know I had the pleasure of riding and breaking bread with him and I feel I am a better man for the brief moment that I knew him. If you or Indie need anything don't hesitate to ask.
